19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player won his initial trophy for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Now working with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's initial championship after the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface from spring of that year.

Success also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 championships at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is particularly special," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six finals, including in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's retrieving strategy and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had led some to doubt if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

He recovered from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five games to take the lead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden professional championship, gained dominance to create a final set.

The opponent rescued 4 early opportunities in a tight deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
